Western Martial Arts Demonstration by Gallowglass Academy Saturday 1 PM | Western culture has a long tradition of martial arts. We know that the ancient Egyptians practiced wrestling, the Greeks held contests in pankration, pugilism as well as wrestling at the ancient Olympics and the Romans had their gladiatorial games. Yet it wasnt until the Middle Ages that we have any texts that tell us how these arts were taught. Starting in the 14th century instructors in the arts of Mars set forth their techniques in illustrated texts that we can follow to learn how they taught everything from empty hand, dagger, sword and spear techniques. As more modern weapons came to the fore these texts were relegated to museums and historical archives. However, within the last twenty years scholars and martial artists have come together to recreate these arts. Gallowglass Academy is a martial arts school in the Rockford, IL area that provides classes and workshops in a number of these Western martial arts. At this demonstration Allen Reed, Headmaster of the Academy, and other students of these arts will show how they were used. Visit http://www.gallowglassacademy.org/ for more information |

August 19, 2197. Shuttle Two Niner Echo was on a > routine
search and salvage mission from the L-10 Habitat "Liberty" when it developed
thruster issues and was forced down in the middle of a "Dead Zone" near
what used to be Omaha Nebraska. The crew, their security element and salvage bots set up a perimeter and waited for the rescue shuttle. Which almost made it all the way down before it ate the last SAM-28 missile that the Blood Wolf tribe had in it's possesion. A few armored scouts made it through the crash. Now the survivors of the two downed birds have to fight to survive until ANOTHER SAR flight can try to snatch them up to orbit and safety. And the mutants are HUNGRY. |

Musketeers Outbound |
October, 1956. After months of political maneuvering, England and France have launched Operation Musketeer, a series of aerial attacks on Egypt designed to pave the way for an invasion to seize control of the Suez Canal. Historically, the EAF stayed on the ground under orders from President Nasser. In this scenario, however, they take to the skies to challenge the attackers. Hunters, Venoms, Vampires and the dreaded MiG-15 tangle in the skies over the Sinai. |

| Operation Sea Lion - Invasion
of England August 1940 | We're
going to add a twist to the normal Memoir set-up where for the most part, all
of the figures, terrain, and extra components are pre-set at the start. Terrain
will be fixed, but the minefields, barbed wire, and bunkers can be placed by the
British players as well as their troops. Once done, the German players will bring
their troops on via landing craft where there will be allowed to start at locations
along the edge of their side of the board. There will be para-drops by the German FJs, air sorties across the English Channel, and interactions with the respective navies. It would be best if all players had a basic knowledge of the gaming system. Time and energy permitting, I will try and run a demo of Memoir '44 in the open gaming period prior this time slot on Friday. |

depending if it is an air, land, or sea unit. More pieces than A&A but not
as involved as WiF. We won't have time for the whole game from the 1939 scenario,
so we'll start with the 1941 scenarios. And depending on the number of players

Each turn each player chooses one action, but the others will share in the actions chosen, each player secretly and simultaneously chooses one of seven different action cards and then reveals it. Only the selected phases occur. For these phases, every player performs the phase's action, while the selecting player(s) also get a bonus for that phase. |

150 dci Star Wars Miniatures Tournament |
150 dci swm, 4 rounds of play, 4-0 and 3-1's win packs. Bring a 150 point squads and dci cards. i will have dci cards if you dont have one. Players may only "bring" one map into competitive play. All players will be asked to designate what map they wish to use (when they win the map roll for their respective games). As of July 1st 2008 The following maps are legal for both 100 and 150 point play: . Rebel Storm starter Tractor Beam Reactor Coupling map . Clone Strike starter Grand Plaza map . Revenge of the Sith starter Power Regulation Chamber map . Rebel Storm Ultimate Missions Cloud City map (updated Organized Play version only) . Rebel Storm Ultimate Missions Mos Eisley map (updated Organized Play version only) . Clone Strike Ultimate Missions Nightclub map (treat windows as walls, high ledges as on the same level with the streets) . Revenge of the Sith Ultimate Missions Throne Room map . Attack on Endor Commander's Office map . Attack on Endor Hall of Judgment map . Attack on Endor Rancor Pen map . Battle of Hoth Echo Base Outpost map As of July 1st 2008 the set up procedure has changed a bit: (change in bold) Pregame Procedures and Who Plays First 1. Players begin the pregame procedure by revealing their squads to each other. (Please note here is where you add reinforcements from characters like Garm or Lobot) 2. Players roll to determine who will chose the map to be played on. 3. The player with the higher roll chooses which map will be played on. The player with the lower roll selects whether to set up first or second. The player who sets up first selects a side and sets up his miniatures, then the other player sets up on the opposite side. 4. Players roll for initiative to determine who will play first. Miniature Setup: Note any part of the Base of a Huge (3x3) or Large (2x2) Must start within 4 squares of the Short edge of that players side of the map. Thus Huges and Larges can set up with part of there base extending out of the 4 square area. This is very important on Maps like 'Cloud City' Where one edge has a ledge for most of it's length. During Play of the Game: T.O. and Judges request For the activations purposes during the tournament, please designated activated Minature by turning the miniature to face the opposite direction (toward the miniatures starting area). Unactivated miniatures should be > facing away from the starting area. For minis that its hard to tell (Droidika and Med droid for example) please use an activated counter - See T.O. if you need some. Victory conditions will follow standard DCI Constructed Floor rules including but not limited to: . Gambit (Center) Points (five points are scored each round that a player ends a round with a model within four squares of the center of the map) At the end of each round you add up your Gambit points (including this round's) and defeated enemy minatures (except reinforcement miniatures) values and see if you have reached or exceeded the Tournamnet Point level (this tournament is 150) if so the game ends at that point and the player with the higher total wins. . Upon match time limit current round will be completed . Match ends if no side takes damage, makes an attack roll, or makes a saving throw for 10 complete rounds There will be a demo of the game starting at 9:30, tournament due to run Noon through 6 pm. |

Bellum | "Then I
saw seven angels with seven plagues, which are the last, for with them the wrath
of God is ended" -exert from last sermon of Friar Bartman. The prophets of old told of the end of days...and that time is here. It started two centuries ago when a series of floods of biblical proportion decimated mankind. Most of man's knowledge and technology was lost.....and then the fallen ones came. Few in numbers at first, these minions wreaked further havoc. Mankind had lost all hope until the heavens opened and the angels appeared. Bolstered by long forgotten holy fighting orders, the forces of good began to battle back. 30 years have passed since "the holy ones" appeared and now the forces of evil have sent stronger, more powerful demons to destroy mankind and claim the world as their own. The fate of mankind is in the balance and outcome is anything but certain. Players will be divided into two teams to battle for the fate of the world. Will the forces of good be victorious and all of mankind saved? Or will the demonic horde carry the day and cast the world into eternal night? | SabasParada,
